Friday night, CBHS had a huge football game against MUS. We knew it would be crowded, but we decided to go anyway. We walked all the way to the game from our house and met up with the Coles. Alex and Reed did a great job watching the game (with the help of RingPops) and we ended up staying the whole time! After halftime, we sat with the Wendts and Alex, Ava and Luke found some other kindergarten friends to play with. The kindergarteners (and Reed) ran up and down the bleachers and had a great time. And CBHS won, so it was a great night!

First field trip
Alex had his first field trip on Friday! He was super excited to ride the big yellow bus and see all the farm animals. All the kids rode the bus with the teachers and a bunch of moms carpooled from the school down to the farm.
Alex got to pick a pumpkin, take a hayride, cheer on a turtle race, ride a train, ride a horse, pet a chicken, feed a few animals and play with his friends. All of this in less than 2 hours! He had a great time and I did too!

Web work
Alex got his first web work assignment as homework today at school. They go to computer class each week and to enhance their computer skills his teacher is sending home web work (computer and internet based homework) each Wednesday. Alex was really, really excited to do it and had a great time learning about the farm online. This also prompted us to move the computer downstairs for easier access, something I've been wanting to do for a while. Now Reed is really interested, too, so we may have to come up with some web work of our own!

Fall and football
We had a full weekend of fall and football fun! On Saturday, we went to an early Tiger football game, and even though they are terrible, the boys don't know the difference. We walked up Tiger Lane (which was really cool) and had practically an entire section to ourselves at the Liberty Bowl. They had hot dogs, watched the band and Pouncer and had a blast - who cares that the "yellow team" won, right?
After the Tiger game, we joined the Coles to watch the Bulldog game. Mississippi State is Alex and Reed's second favorite team, so they were pretty excited. But when we got there, they were WAY more excited about playing with new toys and eating dinner. Which worked out great, because that meant we got to watch the game! The boys stayed up late and we all had a blast.
On Sunday, I was in a fall mood, so we cooked a big pot of chili and cornbread, made some candy corn cookies and invited the grandparents over for dinner. A great impromptu end to the weekend. I love fall!

Fall break at the lake
Alex was on fall break this weekend, so we decided to spend a few days at the lake and make a vacation out of it. Friday morning we headed into Savannah and spent the morning in the city. We saw the Tennessee River Museum where the boys learned a little about the river and the "Silver" War! Then we had a fun lunch outside and enjoyed cupcakes on Main Street. We had a blast just walking around and enjoying small town Savannah.
I always love to roast hot dogs and cook smores when we are at the lake, but the weather never seems to cooperate. This time, it was a little warm, but we went for it anyway. Brian made a great fire and the boys enjoyed cooking and eating their food outside on the sand. We spent Saturday and Sunday loving the beautiful weather and watching some great football. We had an amazing time and it was fun to get away for a little while. The trip also made us all ready for some real fall weather!

Homework
Since starting kindergarten, Alex has homework a few nights each week. Usually it's writing numbers and letters or doing the star of the week compliment sheet. Tonight he was working on his "book report". Each week, they pick out a book from the library and bring it home. During that week they have to "read" the story, write the answer to a question about the story and draw a picture that reminds them of the story. That's a pretty big assignment for kindergarten! The first week he had a Dr. Seuss book - whew, that was very difficult. But the last two weeks have been Berenstain bears, so he is doing much better now!
I just love the way he concentrates so hard and really wants to do a good job. Hope it lasts!

Golf!
Alex and Reed spent some time at Moz and Gramps's house this weekend and had a great time. And an even better time at the golf course!
