Happy Halloween

We had an especially spooky Halloween this year! It was rainy and windy, and the power went out in part of our neighborhood just before dark. We met up with a lot of our neighbors (at a house with no power!) and then headed out to trick-or-treat. There were neighbors passing out candy in the street and candles lighting the way to dark houses. We loved the uniqueness it, and it was perfectly fitting for Halloween!

Orchestra

St. Louis has a great orchestra program that starts in third grade. Alex was hesitant at first but has now decided to sign up. He chose to play the cello, and we rented one this week. So far he is having a great time making lots of music/noise with it!

Corn maze

The boys are both doing scouts for the first time this year, and so far they are loving it. We took a hike with Reed's group, followed by the corn maze with Alex's group. It's so much fun to see them have a good time with their sweet friends!

Tiger tailgating

We made it to our first tailgate on Tiger Lane, and it was awesome! We saw Tom, Pouncer, the band and tons of Tiger fans. We all had a blast cheering and getting excited for the game.

Kitty Caroline

We have a kitty! She's actually a stray cat found at my office. She got all cleaned up at the vet, and now she's the newest member of our family!

Alex and Reed absolutely love her, and Ollie is doing great with her as well. Once she's healed from her surgery she will be able to go outside, but for now she's enjoying getting to know us too.

Weekend of sports

We had a weekend full of sports - CBHS game Friday night, two soccer games on Saturday, the Memphis Tigers football game and one soccer game on Sunday. Whew! Alex had his first soccer game of the season, and he and Reed both scored their first goals.

Labor Day at the lake

We had such a great weekend at the lake. The weather wasn't great, but we made the most of it and had tons of fun anyway. The rest of the Tennessee (and one Mississippi) Johnstons were there and the boys absolutely loved having cousins to play with. Alex and Hunter shot thousands of caps, and Reed and Emma played lots of UNO. The grownups did a lot of eating, relaxing and talking. A great end to a wonderful summer!
