The Christmas tree is up

The 2009 Christmas season can officially begin...we have our tree up! Alex and Reed helped me pick out the perfect tree this afternoon while Brian was still at work. We hauled it in and had it all ready to decorate when he got home. Alex LOVED decorating the tree. He was a super good helper with the lights and oohed and ahhed over every ornament. Of course, Reed just played with the reindeer headband! We had the Christmas music going and now we all have a little more Christmas spirit!

Thanksgiving weekend

We had a great Thanksgiving weekend. We started off by watching the parade on Thursday -- Alex and Reed loved Spiderman, Kermit, Tom the Turkey and Santa! Then we went to Grandma and Pops for Thanksgiving dinner (and ate way too much!) Friday morning we got up and went to the lake, where we rested, relaxed and played. Alex and Reed had fun at the State Park playground, and we even ventured into Savannah for lunch at the Fish Hut. The weather was great and we had a blast.

Pre-Turkey Day

Today, the boys were out of school, so I took off work and tried to think of something fun for us to do. I had heard people talk about the "Playground of Dreams" in Arlington, and I thought this would be a good time to check it out. (But first we had to make a stop by Gibson's for donuts!) The playground was totally worth the drive and we played there for at least an hour and a half! Then to complete the "out of town" feeling, we went to lunch at Vinegar Jim's. It was really good and fun to do something different. I can't tell you how nice it is to be able to take both of them to the same place, and out in public, with no worries. We have a lot to be thankful for!

Thankful

Alex had a school project this week to decorate a "turkey feather" with what he is thankful for. They would then put all the feathers on the turkey that they are making for the classroom. So, tonight I asked him what he was thankful for, and he responded: you, daddy and Reed. So, that's what he drew (well, he also added himself in!) I told him the letters that spelled the words but he wrote them and did it all himself. And now I am thankful for my sweet Alex!

Busy weekend

We packed a lot of fun into this weekend! First we went out for pizza Friday night - to a buffet - there are no pictures, thank goodness! It was a little crazy but the boys loved it. Then Saturday we had Alex's last soccer game (they are undefeated, Brian says!) where we got a team picture and a fun medal. I think Alex was as excited about the medal as he was about the soccer game! After soccer, we headed to the last home football game for the Tigers. We had a great time and they both sat and watched the game all the way to half time! Finally, on Sunday, we took advantage of the beautiful weather and visited the trains at the Collierville square. Busy, but great!

Cowboy hats, fall leaves and bathtub bubbles...

just another week at our house! Reed donned this cowboy hat, horse and boots to show off for Avis during dinner on Friday. All week we've been playing in the fall leaves and tonight we did bubble bath for the first time. All cute, all fun, all crazy!

Guess who slept in his big boy bed...

And we put the crib in the attic. So, we officially have two big boys!

Beautiful weekend

This past weekend, the weather was beautiful and really warm for November. Alex and Reed got to soak up the sun with Moz and Gramps, and they found a playground with a HUGE slide. They even made a pit stop for donuts. It's so much fun to see them really get to enjoy hanging out with the grandparents...and boy, do they ever enjoy it!

Halloween weekend at the lake

Since Alex and Reed don't really know when Halloween is or what you are supposed to do, we decided to skip trick or treat and head to the lake. After the rain on Friday, the weather cleared up and we enjoyed a beautiful weekend with Aunt Christie. We played outside, roasted hot dogs and watched a lot of football. It was a great fall weekend!

Halloween parties

Alex and Reed had their annual (well, Reed's first annual) Halloween party at school on Friday. It was raining so they had to do the pumpkin patch inside, but they still had a great time. The difference between the 2 year old pumpkin patch and the 4 year old one is something that I can not even describe! Either way, they both got pumpkins and had a party, and I got to spend some time with both. Happy Halloween!
