Field Day

Alex and Reed had their first combined field day today at school. They loved every minute of hanging with friends, eating a pizza picnic and racing through the events. Everyone will sleep well tonight!

Alex's sleepover

Apparently, part of growing up is having a sleepover too. Alex had his first sleepover last night and it was a success! They played basketball, ate pizza and cake, had a nerf war and played lots of Wii. Everyone was tired but happy in the end!

Alex's 8th birthday

Alex is 8! And he is so big!

This past year has really been about growing up. He's lost teeth and gotten taller and learned to be better and stronger at soccer and baseball and basketball. But, it's been more than that. It's been about becoming a grown-up kid, with real emotions and thoughts and feelings.

Alex is learning to watch out for other people's feelings and really understand who he wants to be. I am so proud of the glimpses of grownup that I see in Alex all the time - the way he focuses when he really wants to do something or when he goes out of his way to include a new friend at recess. I love the group of friends he's chosen and the great little friend he has become. I am amazed at how much he loves reading and the incredible memory he has for all things sporting. Alex is all boy with a little twist of sweetness. He is cute and funny and kind. And even though he's growing up, he'll always be my little boy!

Boys vacation

While Brian and I enjoyed a long weekend in NYC, the boys had a blast with Grandma and Pops. The pictures speak for themselves.

Beautiful weekend

The boys had another great weekend with Moz and Gramps!

Baseball time!

We went to our first Redbirds game of the season. David Freese was on injury assignment from the Cardinals, and the boys loved watching him play in Memphis. They met Rocky, ate a hot dog, and just enjoyed themselves.

By the end of the game, they were sitting a few rows ahead of us and discussing the game. It may have been one of my favorite "brother" moments ever!
