Beautiful spring weekend

We have a super busy April coming up, so we were excited to see that this weekend was pretty open and was going to have beautiful weather. We took full advantage and did some fun Memphis activities.

On Saturday, Alex's basketball game was cancelled, but we were already in Midtown. So we headed to Overton Park and walked around some of the trails in the old growth forest. I was very surprised by how much they loved it (and once I stopped freaking out about poison ivy, I loved it too)! We will definitely have to do some more exploring there. After our hike, we took the boys to one of mine and Brian's favorite hole-in-the wall restaurants - Payne's BBQ. They were amazed that it used to be a gas station and everyone loved their meal.

We stopped by church on Saturday night so that we could hit the zoo bright and early on Sunday. We saw the dinosaur exhibit (they were terrified at first!) and got a super up close look at the lions.

After the zoo, we headed to Alex's second basketball game. He made his first two baskets of the season and was so excited! Then they all (plus Pops) helped Gramps change his flat tire.

It was an exhausting and fun weekend - my favorite kind!!

Sping Break - Day 1

It was a gorgeous start to Spring Break, and I think Alex and Reed had a great day with Grandma at the Botanic Garden!

Friends at the lake

We loved having the Coles at the lake this weekend! Alex and Reed had a blast with Airey and Campbell, and we loved hanging out with the grownups. We had pretty nice weather, so we played on the beach, in the yard, in the house - all around. They had a blast, and we can't wait to do it again!

Boys. Rocks. Dirt. Perfection!

A quiet dinner for four - not quite!
(Please note in the background, the requirements for a weekend at the lake with four boys - cleaning foam for cuts, neosporin, beer and vodka : )
