Happy Halloween!

We had a super fun Halloween this year! The boys are at the perfect ages and they loved trick-or-treating. We got together with neighborhood friends beforehand and then roamed the neighborhood in search of candy. The boys loved going up to the doors by themselves and running through the streets and yards. It was a blast!

Pumpkin time

We enjoyed our annual pumpkin carving fun this weekend. Same theme as last year - Alex traditional scary, Reed funny. Reed also "planted" a few seeds in the back yard, so we'll see if we have some surprise pumpkins next year!

Finally, a lost tooth!

Somebody is really excited about a tooth fairy visit tonight! Alex finally lost his first tooth today at school. Apparently, he bit into some ice cream and felt something hard. He thought it was the stick and spit it out. Turns out it was the tooth! His teacher wrapped it up and put it in a bag. We tucked it in the tooth pillow and Alex can't wait to see what the tooth fairy leaves!

Baby teeth

Alex has had his first loose tooth for about 6 weeks now. I first noticed it over Labor Day weekend and I thought for sure it was coming out in the next week or so. But, almost 2 months later and it's still hanging in there!

And after seeing his school picture, I am SOOOO glad! I can say for sure that this is the last school picture he will ever have with all his baby teeth - I love that you can see every one of them!!

Reed's school picture is not quite as smiley as Alex's, but I love his sweet face in this!

Pumpkin Patch

The boys have been begging to get pumpkins, so today we did! After Reed's soccer game, we stopped by the OLPH pumpkin patch and picked up two big carving pumpkins and two small decorative pumpkins. We had plans to go to a bigger pumpkin patch, but this one worked just fine - and meant that we got to spend the afternoon watching football. Happy Fall!

Fall Break 2011

Since our last trip to the lake house, we have been looking forward to getting back for a long fall break. We made it extra long by going up on Thursday night and staying until Monday afternoon. We spent Friday in Savannah, and I was amazed by how intrigued the boys were by the Civil War history in the area. We visited the Tennessee River Museum for the second time and took a side trip to Shiloh. They had a great time and loved the history lesson!

The rest of the weekend we spent just relaxing around the house - throwing rocks in the water (this is hours of fun!), playing football and baseball, going for walks and making caramel apples. Alex even spent some time reading his new "big boy" book on the front porch.

We ventured out again on Sunday for some fun at the state park while Brian and Pops played some golf. Finally, on our way home on Monday, we had lunch at Abe's in Corinth. I can't even describe the experience or the food - both were amazing.

A great, great weekend - we were not ready to come home! Until next time...
