Almost March?!

Today started out looking like almost March - pleasant weather and basketball. But by early afternoon, February was back! It started snowing around 3pm and hasn't stopped. Predictions are 4-6 inches.

But, before the winter weather hit, Alex and Brian (and Freddie) made it down to FedExForum for a little Tiger basketball. Alex sat through almost the whole game with the help of Pops, Grandma, Aunt Kath and Aunt Christie - and he had a great time. Thanks to Aunt Christie for the tickets.

Meanwhile, Reed and I enjoyed the snow from the comfort of home.

Family of the Week

I think one of the best things about having kids is school projects. I live for this stuff. And since I'll never have a girl to do fun craft projects with, I figure I better enjoy it now while Alex is willing to tolerate the hour it takes to make his poster "cute". So, this afternoon, Alex and I sat down with scissors and glue to make his poster for "family of the week". He picked out the pictures he wanted to use, I put glue on them and he stuck them on (with a little help to make sure it was cute, of course). I think the result is fun and it's a great keepsake for his pre-k year.

Another part of family of the week is bringing home Freddie the Frog. Now, this can be a little confusing since we also have Freddie, the magic Christmas Elf, but fortunately Alex hasn't made the connection yet. I'm sure it's only a matter of time.

Anyway, Freddie comes home in a backpack with two frog books and a journal. Freddie will spend the week with us, we'll take some photos and complete the next chapter in Freddie's journal through the class. He took a minute out of his busy schedule to pose with Alex at bedtime.

Sweet! (potato fries)

Whenever Aunt Christie invites us over for dinner, I always think two things:
1. Yum...
2. Guess I better pack some chicken nuggets for Reed

So, tonight we arrived at Aunt Christie's for dinner with appetites and chicken nuggets in hand. Little did we know that Reed would surprise us all by eating not one, not two, but three sweet potato fries. Here's the proof.

There was also much fun playing with toys, playing on Aunt Christie's bed and cheering for the Tigers. Alex and Reed were at home in bed before the game started, but it's the thought that counts. Thanks Aunt Christie for a super fun night!

Winner!

Last night was Dad's Night at Alex's preschool. Proving yet again that you should never challenge Brian in trivia, he (and Alex) won the sports trivia contest and Alex came home with a set of sports balls. Alex said "good job, daddy" and we put the winning entry up on the fridge.

Renewed committment

I am committing to update this blog. I am committing to update this blog.

Instead of giving up something for Lent, I have decided that I will make a real effort to update the blog at least weekly. My goal for this whole endeavor was to make a sort of diary to keep up with our busy lives and our growing boys. So far, I have been a huge slacker, but I figure if I can really do it for the next few weeks, I might be hooked.

So, to kick this off (I know, don't say it - again!) I am posting one of my recent favorite photos for inspiration. It looks like they are cheering for me. Maybe this will keep me on track!
