Reed's cast

Reed got his cast off. After a quick two weeks, he's good as new. The bone is beginning to heal, and he's getting adjusted to walking normally again!

Birthday baseball

Alex has really enjoyed his baseball team this season. He didn't really know anyone on the team in the beginning, but he has made some great friends. He's also done a really good job at first base, and he even pitched some this week.

And...he just happened to get a win on his birthday! After the game, the team sang happy birthday and enjoyed pirate-themed cupcakes.

Alex's 10th birthday

Happy birthday to this sweet boy! Alex is 10!

We had a fun family birthday dinner on Sunday night with Alex's favorites - pizza and strawberry cake. Then Alex started off his big day by grabbing a Grizzlies playoff donut at Gibson's and taking a couple dozen to his class. I think he had a great day at school, and he said he definitely felt older. I'm not sure about that, but he looks older for sure!

Field Day

Luckily, we got field day in before the broken leg. As always, the boys had a blast and loved being with friends and outside all day.

Reed's broken leg

Reed had a soccer game on Saturday and was playing great. A little after halftime, he was playing hard (as usual) and collided with a bigger player on the other team. He fell down awkwardly and grabbed his leg in pain. Brian immediately knew something was wrong. The coaches got him off the field, but he couldn't walk or put any weight on it at all.

Just to get things checked out, we headed to the Urgent Care where a friend of ours was working. Reed tried to take a few steps in the waiting room, and we all thought he was going to be fine. But...they took an x-ray, and he has a broken fibula just below the knee.

They put him in a splint (half cast) and sent us on our way. Reed did really well over the weekend with the cast and even managed to use the walker to get around.

On Monday, we went to see the orthopedic doctor. He gave us really good news - Reed only needs to be in the cast for two weeks! He said that the bone is stable, and the cast really just provides pain relief by keeping everything still. They were even able to position his foot in a way that he can walk. Reed chose neon green for his new cast and is doing great!

Back to school!

Spring Game

On Friday night, we tailgated and went to the Tiger Spring Game. The tailgate with friends was fun, and all the kids got to run out through the tunnel onto the field after the players. After the game, all the players and coaches signed autographs. It was a fun way to see some football in April!

Easter

We had a very happy Easter at the lake. I forgot the good camera, so we got a few quick pictures with my phone. We had some great weather and played outside all weekend!

The boys also built a restaurant, Little Jo's, under the stairs. They had a great time taking orders and serving everyone!
