Fun night with friends

Tonight, we had the rare treat of hanging out with our friends who live out of town and their two kids. We also got to see Clay in full-on babysitter mode - really, he was just hanging out too, but the boys loved him and he ended up entertaining them all night! We had some quick pizza and cookies and just played. Fun times with friends we just don't get to see often enough!

David plays some pretty mean toy guitar. The fireplace was his "stage"!

Sweet Kate was such a joy, hanging out with all those boys!

Last week

I'm a little behind with some fun events from last week. First, we went to the St. Louis Hole in One tournament and Alex hit some golf balls with Brian. We also hung out with the Coles and their two boys -- looks like we might have some little golfing buddies on our hands!

Then, Friday night we celebrated Aunt Christie's birthday with a few cupcakes (and I do mean a few!) Alex and Reed were "pretending to be mommy and daddy" in our bed and Aunt Christie jumped in for a quick pic. Happy Birthday!

Planes and pools

Alex and Reed had another fun weekend with Moz and Gramps. It was super hot, so they spent most of their time in the kiddie pool (can you see a theme - these guys love the water!) They also took a field trip to the local airport to get an up close look at some little planes. Alex had been before, but he said, "Reed's never seen planes, we should take him." So they did.

And yes, in case you noticed, Alex has an Auburn hat on. But, he just likes the tiger on it, no worries!

Father's Day Weekend

We had a super busy and great weekend. Saturday we went swimming at the Ehrhart's and met baby Lauren for the first time. Then we ran down to the Levitt Shell for a kids performance and had dinner while we watched the show. Alex and Reed danced and sang, and Brian and I relaxed...it was GREAT!

For Father's Day we had a cookout with the dads which included kiddie pool time and lots of laughs. A great weekend to celebrate all the great dads we know (Brian, Gramps and Pops)! Love you all!

A little backyard fun

Summer is officially here and everyone is ready to head outside. So, we brought out the kiddie pool and the slide. Alex and Reed had a blast playing in the water and soaking up the rays.

Light up shoes

Alex has been wanting light up shoes FOREVER. Each time we go to Target, he begs for them, and he always talks about his friend at school that has a pair. I've always put him off because gimmicky things like that bug me. But, this weekend, Alex was looking through a bag of hand-me-down shoes for Reed and he found some light up sandals! Of course, they were too small for Alex, but he wistfully helped Reed put them on. After a day of watching Reed wear his light up shoes, Alex just couldn't take it anymore. He HAD to have a pair.

So, Monday after school we went to "the place where they have all those rows and rows of shoes" and got some light up shoes. Just by chance, they are also Spiderman, so he really, really loves them. Tonight, when I went in to check on him after he'd gone to bed, I saw little lights peeking out from his blanket. He was sitting in bed, quietly tapping the shoes together to make them light up. It was so cute, I just let him sleep with them in his bed! Sometimes, good things are worth waiting for.

Strawberry patch

Moz and I took Alex to the strawberry patch at Shelby Farms today. You grab a bucket, pick all the strawberries you can, and take them home to eat. Alex loved looking for the biggest one, the smallest one (for Reed, of course) and the medium one. He learned to only pick the really red ones and we all had a blast.

Swim!

We went to the Germantown Athletic Club pool today for the first time. Alex and Reed had a great time even though the water was freezing! Alex was busy zooming his jet ski and Reed was playing in the shooting water along the edge. We finished up with a big lunch and nap. Great afternoon!

Grillin' and chillin'

The last two days have been very uncharacteristic for Memphis summer - cool and breezy! Tonight, we enjoyed the break from the heat by grilling out with Moz and Gramps and playing outside. Alex loved his corn on the cob and Reed had a great time in the sandbox and being silly.

Reed also got into character for the Belmont Stakes. Who knows, he might "grow up" to be a jockey!

What we look like...

900 miles away from the boys for a weekend! We had a great time at Chase and Melissa's wedding in Richmond, VA while Alex and Reed had a great time with Moz and Gramps.
