Saturday's weather was absolutely beautiful, so we decided to go check out Oaklawn Garden. It's a pretty neat place with winding "trails" and lots of beautiful flowers and old stuff. We saw an old train car, an old firetruck, a really old jail cell and some other cool stuff. The boys loved wandering around and discovering. Then we headed to the park and even got to watch a horse show. We finished off our busy morning with a big lunch and a good rest. Yay for spring!

Surfing and Snowboarding
Today we went to the Children's Museum. They have a new exhibit about all kinds of motion. In one area, they have a GIANT screen with waves crashing or snowy mountains. In front of it, they have these "surf boards/snow boards" that move back and forth to practice balance. Alex and Reed loved it. I tried it without much success, but they did great. It was a perfect fit since they loved the snowboarding at the winter olympics so much. It was a great surprise!

Circus
Moz and I took Alex and Reed to the circus Saturday morning. All I can say is that the circus is much different when you go as an adult! But, Alex and Reed had a great time. Alex was dying to get some cotton candy, so that was the first thing we did when we arrived. Then he had a bite...and didn't want any more! I think the texture was just too weird for him. They both got light up swords, and Moz and I worked really hard to keep them from whacking the people seated nearby. Alex was really into all the acts, but I think Reed was a little overwhelmed. When we left Alex said he loved the trapeze the most, and Reed liked the elephants. It was a hit!

Reed's surgery
Reed first got ear tubes when he was 18 months old and today had to have them replaced. We went to the surgery center really early and with no breakfast, but he did great! He let the nurse weigh him, take his blood pressure and listen to his heart. He played with all the toys and had a great time. When they called his name, we went to the bunny tunnel and picked out a cool barrel of monkeys for him to have after surgery. He gave me a kiss and walked right back with the nurse. After surgery (which took about 20 minutes at most), he was a little sleepy, but not cranky at all. He woke right up and was very happy to have his graham crackers. We are hoping that these tubes get rid of the ear infections and make him feel better. He was a good boy!

Dumptruck
Moz and Gramps got this dumptruck for Alex a couple of years ago. He has always liked to be pushed in it, but has never gotten up the courage to drive it. It is battery operated and goes pretty fast. Finally, last weekend, he decided it was time. He drove it all around and even took Reed for a spin.

Alex's family portrait
Today, while playing upstairs, Alex decided to draw a family portrait on the MagnaDoodle. It is so cute! From left to right, it's Brian, Alex, me, Reed and Oliver. He also wrote "I love you" by drawing out an eye, a heart and a U. Adorable!

Warm weather
When I picked up Alex and Reed from school today, Alex said, "I love warm weather." I couldn't agree more. The weather has been fantastic and today we played outside forever. They had a blast. They also cleaned out the drain, a very messy task. Alex said, "this should be on TV, it's a dirty job!"

Reed's good report
Reed has had a couple of tough weeks at school. He has had trouble following directions, listening to the teacher and being nice to his friends. Since time-out isn't working, his teacher wanted to try something new. Last week she wrote out a good report with a big super star sticker on it. Each day we talk to Reed about getting the good report, how we do that, how much fun that would be, how it would make Mommy and Daddy and Mrs. Street so happy, and on and on. So today, he FINALLY got to take the good report home! Grandma picked him up from school, so he called Brian and I to let us know and sent a picture! He got a super special dessert for doing such a great job. Yay, Reed!
Family of the week
Alex is family of the week this week in his class. He helped make a poster about himself and has had Buddy Bear at home all week. That makes four bears in the house named Buddy, so things can get confusing! He's had a blast showing Buddy Bear around and having him take up an instrument in the family band (fortunately, this gets Brian and I out of drum duty!). Brian is reading a book to the class and I'm taking donuts for snack. Fun week!
