The first week of kindergarten, parents walk kids in and help them unpack. The second week, parents say goodbye at the door and the kids unpack themselves. This is the third week and Alex has decided he's ready to go into school all by himself! The last two mornings, Brian has just pulled up and let Alex get out on the sidewalk. He walks right up to the door and goes in like a big boy! Today, he even ran into a friend on the walk and he loved that. What a big boy he is!

Fun Friday
After a week of hard work at preschool and kindergarten, we headed out for a treat Friday afternoon when I picked the boys up from school. Alex and Reed each got a giant cupcake and apple juice, and they enjoyed every bite!
After dinner, we went to the CBHS football game. The boys were really, really interested in all the parts of the game and they had a great time. They both sat still and paid attention for the entire first half. This was a major improvement from the game we went to last year. I think we'll be going back!

Reed's first day of pre-k
Reed got his own first day of school yesterday at CTK. He has the same teacher that Alex had when he was in pre-k and we love her. He also has two of his good friends from last year in his class, so it should be wild! He was a little sad when I left, but he recovered quickly and played with his friends. He was so cute with his puppy dog shirt and huge backpack!

Reed's birthday party
This weekend, we had the whole family over for a celebration of Reed's 3rd birthday. He loves puppies, so we had a puppy themed party with a cute puppy t-shirt and cake. After seeing Alex's party in April, he has been anxiously awaiting his birthday for months. He was so excited for the cake, he couldn't stand it! For the first part of the party he just sat at the table and ate an entire bowl of chips. The only way we got him to move was to promise cake! He did a great job blowing out the candles and ate a big piece of cake.
After cake, he was very ready to open presents. He loved everything and Alex even got in the action on a few. It was a great time and Reed loved being the center of the show! Happy Birthday, Reed (again)!

Alex's first day of kindergarten
Today was the much anticipated first day of school for Alex. He was excited and a little bit nervous. But he put on his new shoes and backpack and headed off to school. He did a great job taking pictures (after a small bribe/promise of McDonald's for lunch). He has a friend from preschool in his class, so he was really excited when he arrived and settled right in.
When I picked him up, he said his day was "awesome"! I think the highlight of the day was having recess in the gym and running in his new shoes. He also colored, ate snack and met some new friends. His teacher said he had a great day, and he seems excited to go back again. After school (it was just a half day), we picked up McDonald's and Brian came home to hear about his day. I think we are all glad the first day is over and are really looking forward to a great year!

Reed's birthday day
Reed had a great birthday day! He started off the morning with a present from Alex. He loved the Cars puzzle and the giant lollipop. Of course, he had to have the lollipop for breakfast. Then he requested donuts and the Children's Museum. So, we headed out to do both. He and Alex both had huge donuts and then we all had a great time at the museum. Finally, he wrapped up his celebration with some fun balloons from Aunt Kath. Happy Birthday!

Happy 3rd Birthday Reed!
We've come a long way, little Reed! From our tiny little 3 pound baby, Reed has grown up to be our tiny little 25 pound 3-year-old! He may be tiny, but he is tough. He does anything and everything to keep up with his brother, and he loves him more than anything.
This year, he learned how to run, jump, get dressed, count to 12, sing the alphabet song, play the guitar, make awesome truck noises, ride a bike, jump in the water, take a shower, use the potty (inside and out!) and so much more! He is silly and funny and crazy, but he does it all with a huge smile and a sense of humor. Reed makes us all laugh and giggle all the time. He is easy going and fun and not bothered at all when he gets in trouble! I can't tell you how many times we've said "it's a good thing you're cute, Reed"! And that he is.
Reed truly is a miracle, a blessing and a joy. He makes everyday more fun and interesting just by being around. Here's to my funny, happy, silly "big" boy. We love you, Reed!

Last week of summer
This is the official last week of summer. Alex and Reed are out of summer camp and getting ready to start school. Alex has a half day on Thursday and Reed starts next Wednesday. Yesterday and today, Alex and Reed have spent time with Grandma (and Pops) enjoying the last few days of summer break. Today they went to the fire station!
You'll notice that Alex has on a St. Louis School t-shirt. We went to registration this morning and bought a couple of shirts. After getting the shirts, Alex declared, "I'm ready now!"
I certainly hope so!

Last day of summer camp
Today was Alex and Reed's last day of sujmmer camp at Christ the King. And the last day that they will ever walk into school together (since St. Louis has carpool). It's a little bittersweet since Alex has loved CTK so much, but I think he is ready for kindergarten. As usual, they ran right in and to their classrooms! Alex announced "today's my last day" when he got to his class.
We also decided to have Reed celebrate his school birthday today. So he took Spiderman cupcakes to his class. He's excited since he's never gotten to have a school party. Should be a fun last day!
