I have never seen Alex as excited about playing a sport as he was to play soccer on Saturday. Not because he's a second grader now and one of the biggest kids on the team or because he just finished watching a soccer game on tv...no, it was because he got to play in the rain!
Alex played mid-fielder and goalie and played three quarters of the game. They lost in the end, but they had a blast in the rain and the mud!

Reed's birthday party
Reed had his 5th birthday party last week with lots of friends from kindergarten. He wanted a cardinals theme, so we did baseball cupcakes, cardinals plates and plastic batting helmet ice cream bowls. They did a little playing on the playground and ate a yummy dinner. And even though Reed ducked under the table during happy birthday, I think he had a good time!

First day of school
Alex and Reed both had their first day of school today - 2nd grade and kindergarten. They were both really excited and so cute in their uniforms. Everybody did great and had a fun day. We are looking forward to a great year!
Honestly, this is what most of the pictures look like : )

Beach time!
We enjoyed the last week of summer at the beach. Once again, we shared a house with the Coles and the boys loved every minute! The Shelbys also joined us this year, and it was nice to have a little girl in the house, too. We had more rain than we planned on, but we managed to have fun in spite of the weather. We played in the water and the sand, ate lots of yummy food, took a tour of 30A and rode some rides in Pier Park. Another fun time at the beach!
Sugar overload in Rosemary Beach.
Eating at the food trucks in Seaside. So fun!
All five monkeys...
Reed was NOT a fan of the tilt-a-whirl!

Reed's birthday
Reed had such a good 5th birthday! He is having a party next week, so today we just hung out around the house and celebrated just the four of us. After such a busy summer, it was a great day to just relax and spend time as a family. I think he enjoyed the day!
Special balloon delivery from Aunt Kath!
Reed loves to talk on the phone and today he spent a lot of time taking calls from his admirers!
Brian made birthday BBQ - it was delicious!
Who doesn't love an ice cream cake!!

One day...
that's how long Reed lasted without his baby blanket (aka Foofie). After falling out of bed on the first night without the blanket and getting a big bump on his head, he requested that we get Foofie out today. I am a little glad that he's still my baby in one way!
Reed is FIVE!
How can our baby be five?! It's just crazy to believe that our tiny little guy is ready for kindergarten!(Although he's still tiny - 34 pounds at his checkup last week). Last night he willingly packed away his beloved blanket and declared that he was ready to be five. I admit, I kind of begged him to keep it : )
Over the last year Reed has surprised us in so many ways. He finished 4K with flying colors and is super prepared for kindergarten. He can read entire books, hit a baseball without a tee, do cannonballs in the lake, get his school uniform on all by himself, and do just about anything Alex does. Alex is his hero. He loves dogs. And really all animals. He still doesn't eat much, but he loves breakfast. He feeds Ollie most days and loves to help in the kitchen. Reed is sweet and loving and cuddly...and has a spunky temper, too. He is just so full of personality and laughs that you can't help but fall in love with him. Cute, awesome, fun, silly Reed. We love you!!
