Camden
Our final stop was Camden, Maine. We stopped at the Penobscot Narrows Bridge on the way and visited the observatory in the top of the bridge. Once we arrived in Camden, we had a quick ice cream break and walked around town a little bit. After dinner we had smores at the hotel and got a good night's sleep for the trip home.
Bar Harbor
Bar Harbor was fantastic!! After a four hour drive up to Bar Harbor with a stop for seafood, we were ready to relax! On our first night, we played a little tennis, checked out the pool and bay (super cold!) and had some amores by the pool.
On our first full day in Bar Harbor, we walked across the bay at low tide to climb the summit of Bar Island right across from our hotel. We drove over to Acadia National Park and checked out a super cool trail near Sand Beach. Finally, we had dinner downtown and grabbed some ice cream.
On our final full day, we took another great hike in Acadia up to a lake carved by a glacier. After hiking all morning, we had lobster for lunch and headed back to the pool and tennis courts. The boys hung at the hotel Kids Club while Brian and I went to a quick dinner. We finished up with a little night swimming. We were not ready to leave!
Boston
We had such a great summer vacation in Boston and Maine. On our first day in Boston, we took a Duck Tour around the city and got a good overview of all the neighborhoods. It was a good start for the rest of our time there. After the Duck Tour, we had dinner in the North End and stopped for candy on the way back to our rented apartment in the West End.
On day two, we started off the morning with a tour of Fenway Park and ate lunch near the ballpark as we watched it fill up for the afternoon game. We wandered back through the Public Garden (where we rode the swan boats), Boston Common and Beacon Hill. Finally, we took in a couple of the historical sites and had dinner again in the North End. We also grabbed some cannoli to eat on the rooftop deck of the apartment.
On our last morning in Boston, we had a tour of the Freedom Trail planned. While waiting for our tour, we took a walk down by the water and had a yummy breakfast. The tour was fun and really informative - Reed even got to act out the Boston Massacre : ) We finished up our trip with dinner by the water and boston cream pie from Omni Parker house on the rooftop deck.
