Happy Father's Day to a great dad! We had a fun time celebrating father's day with all the dads. We had a cookout, homemade ice cream and lots of fun. The boys loved smashing up the oreos for the ice cream and everyone enjoyed the result. Fun day!

Summer Saturday
It's hot, hot outside, but the heat didn't keep us from having a busy, fun Saturday. This morning we headed out to the Agricenter for the Flea Market and Farmer's Market. We had a good time and had a lot of practice with the "keep your hands to yourself and don't touch anything" skill. Then this afternoon, we went down to the new Le Bonheur for a quick tour (again working on the "keep your hands to yourself and don't touch anything" skill)! After that, we stopped by the main library and read some books. Then after that, we went to Jerry's Snocones and had super delicious snocones - eaten in their chairs in the back of the van!
Tomatoes and popsicles
This past week I was really, really busy with work, but we found some time to do a few things on our summer list. A few tomatoes were ready to be picked and eaten, so Alex and Reed did the honors. Of course, Alex loved them and Reed didn't!
We also made popsicles with this really cool fizzing Koolaid stuff. They loved the fizzing and the pouring in the molds. Of course, Alex loved the Koolaid and Reed didn't!
We're hoping to get back on track this week and have a little bit more family time!

Super hot Saturday
We headed down to the Memphis Farmer's Market on Saturday. It was super hot, but the boys had fun and cooled off with popsicles! They also loved the hula hoops and the dog sitting tent. We hadn't planned on doing anything else downtown, but we had some extra time, so we drove over to Mud Island. The boys had a great time walking through the river in their shoes and clothes. It was a fun way to cool of on a super hot Saturday in Memphis!

Simple summer fun
We have been so busy that we needed a simple, easy night at home this Friday. Alex and Reed got in the kiddie pool and played with the hose. Brian and I grilled out burgers and fresh corn. We sprayed on old-fashioned bug spray and ate dinner outside. Then we had homemade vanilla chocolate chip ice cream for dessert. It was simple, it was fun, and it was a perfect way to spend a hot summer night. Sometimes the simplest things are the sweetest!

Sand and tomatoes
Today we filled up the sandbox under the fort, and Alex and Reed had a good time playing (and throwing) some sand. We had to take a bath to get the sand out of their eyelashes - oh, my.
In unrelated news, we have the world's largest tomato plant growing in our backyard. This has been confirmed by a Master Gardener, aka Grandma. She was also the gifter of said plant. I was fully convinced that it would never grow, but I stuck it in a pot with some 3 year old potting soil anyway (that tells you how often I have a need for potting soil - not to mention that the bag was left in our back yard when we bought the house!) and crossed my fingers. I guess it worked! Over the last month, it has outgrown two tomato cages and has TONS of little baby tomatoes on it. Alex and Reed are thrilled and I can't wait to try them!
