The first soccer "game"

I use the term "game" very, very loosely. Alex has done a great job in practice of listening to his coach, running on the field, kicking the ball, etc. And he seems to really have fun. But, Saturday, at his first game, he wouldn't even get out on the field!

Brian had a ton of patience and tried to get him to just step out there, but no luck.

Finally, at half time, Pops got him to get out on the field. But, as soon as the game started up again, he wanted no part of it.

We decided that it would be best to stay the whole game anyway, and so he spent some time reading books and some time on the sideline. The coach assured us that this was normal and it might take him a few games to warm up to the idea. He did seem really excited by the snack at the end of the game, so we'll keep our fingers crossed for next time!
